how do i turn on AHCI mode in my BIOS for sata 3 ports?

AHCI is enabled by default within the UEFI you do not need to manually set it. If you have not make sure to update the UEFI and just load UEFI defaults. From there the PCH and all the SATA ports will operate under AHCI.

No it should not be the SATA operating protocal is set for all ports on the PCH including the 3G and 6G ports. When changing the operating mode it is linked across all.
