Asus is teasing some new X99 Motherboards

People are on x99 for large enthusiast systems or even servers. They are not there and nor is there a market for tiny x99 systems so it's totally understandable

yeah but that didn't stop them before. so why stop now?

You realize that PC building profits have dropped a lot.. hmm maybe because nothing is worth upgrading to on the CPU side of things. Its stopping them because they are tired of losing profit. makes sense, because you know what no matter how noble they can be its still a business and there out to make money. That being said I dont care much for MicroATX and mini ITX in a big system enthusiast platform. that can be for the mainstream platform and i hope it stays that way because we get better mainstream motherboards if most of their focus sits on it

To be fair the 6700k and the 5820k are almost identical in price which is why I feel like there should be some options. X99 has been out for what a year or two now? and there's only 3 mATX boards and like 20 ish ATX boards. I mean like they are going to lose money making all these boards anyways. Look how many people yelled at ASUS, make a mATX 990FX board and they just never did it (back when the FX CPUs were relevant)

That answers that then

As far as i can see, wemm it comes to the vrm, it looks similar to me,
to their previous X99 boards.
And that was just a sollid implementation, even on the entry level Asus X99-A.

Well basicly most motherboard manufacturers offer a m-atx option on the X99 platform nowdays.
Except Msi, but thats kinda to be expected.

The Asus X99M WS is an awesome board.

actually i found 6...

Yeah, i know one is just refresh of the other with USB 3,1 but still... You have a choice...

These are the X99 matx boards that i know of out of my head.

  • Asus X99M WS
  • Asus X99M WS / SE
  • EVGA X99 Micro
  • EVGA X99 Micro 2.
  • Gigabyte GA-X99M Gaming 5
  • Asrock X99M Killer
  • Asrock X99M Extreme 4
  • Asrock X99M killer 3.1

So there is plenty of choice sofar.
Maybe we might even see some new refresh X99 matx boards aswell.
Who knows.

Yeah they look cool,

But it is a big call for me to upgrade from Asus X99-pro 3.1 i think

Not worth it probably. ☺

I do like it that Asus has decided to implement the RGB lightning on their X99 boards.
I realy like the asthetics of the ROG strix board.
But other manufacturers have also teased some new refresh boards.
So i´m realy looking forward to see them and take a closer look to them.

I'm not even sure I can advise purchasing X99 Motherboards anymore, ASUS or otherwise. If you're a hard core gamer definitely DO NOT buy this architecture! I you're anything like me but you are in no rush I'd wait for the next work station platform as what is rumored to be coming will blow any X99 out of the water. I wish I had waited but there is no perfect time.
