Hello, just looking for advice. I have been on an Intel platform for more then a decade but decided to give AMD a go. I have picked up a Asus crosshair X670E extreme and a 7950X cpu. I have a ram kit from my Intel rig that I’m trying out, the kit is G.Skill f5-6000j3636f16fx2-tz5k. The kit isn’t on the QVL for the extreme board but in bios if I click on the auto overclock for the memory (I don’t remember the correct name) it bring the ram up to the correct speeds of 6000, 36,36,36,96 at 1.35volts. Does this mean the ram is ok on this board or should I buy a kit that Asus specifically calls out? Thanks in advance
Sounds like that memory being just fine for your board.
If the memory isn´t on the QVL list does not mean that it won´t work.
6000mhz with two sticks should generally not be a problem on am5.
With four sticks of memory that will be a different story doe.
Then it wont likely do 6000mhz.
Fair enough, I didn’t think there would be an issue with 2X16gb at 6000. Thanks for the information.
