ASRock X79 Extreme9 or ASUS R.O.G. Rampage IV Extreme?

Hey guys, im making my dream computer :-D

CPU : INTEL Core i7-4930K "Ivy Bridge", 6x 3.4GHz, Socket 2011

RAM : G.Skill TridentX DDR3-2400 16GB (2x8GB) OR CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 2x 8GB, DDR3-DIMM, PC3-17000 (2133MHz) ?

GPU : ASUS GTX780-3GD5, GeForce GTX 780, 3.0GB GDDR5

Motherboard : AsRock X79 EXTREME9 (LGA 2011, Intel X79, ATX) OR  ASUS R.O.G. Rampage IV Extreme ???

PSU : Corsair AX Series AX860W

CPU-Cooler : Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H100i

Case : Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 (Black)

DD : 2x Samsung 840 pro, Raid 0 +2x 1To

I think this is not that bad actualy but i have some several doubt about the motherboard :-/

I take the asrock because the sound card that come with it and for the look of the board ;), and they have so many sata,,  but i dont want to take this card just for some junks addin if the Rampage IV Extreme are wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better.

Im not gona Overcloking this badly, maybe push to 4.5ghz but im not an uber OC fan that why i chose the asrock over the Rampage. But i cant decide L can you help me ? same for the RAM,, i totaly dont care about led on it ;). Thanks.

Asus X79 Deluxe. its  $6 more then the Asrock Extreme9.But its worth it!!  if you buy an older X79 board like the Rampage iv extreme or the Asrock Extreme9 you need to  be sure that the bios gets flashed for you, otherwise the cpu is not supported.

if you like feutures as onboard wifi and bluetooth, then i would say go with the newer Asus X79 Deluxe board, its alot cheaper then the Rampage, but its a newer board with nice feutures. also comes with 10 sata ports. And its ivy-e ready!!!!

i realy like the X79 deluxe i would say go for it

P.s about ram i would say if you want 16GB of memory, then i would advice to buy a 4x 4GB kit, just to utilize the quad memory controler in the cpu, this will be more efficient.

+1 the deluxe has a slightly more robust power phase design from what i read. Maybe a gimmick but from most of the stuff by asus it usually serves a purpose.

Do you really need full ATX? You're only using one GPU from what I read, so I'd get a Rampage IV Gene, and a nice mATX case, to kick the same amount of ass, with the same OC potential, but, in a much smaller FF.

I had an Asus X79 deluxe (the original one) and it was fine until it gave up on me.

After a few positive reviews I replaced it with an Asrock X79 extreme9 and it works and overclocks the same. The only problem I have with it is the chipset fan. Because of SLI there isn't a lot of space above the chipset for air to get there and the fan on any form of IO (SSD usage mainly) causes the fan to spin up to ridiculously loud speeds. I hate whiny fans. I ended up cable tying a fan to blow between the GPUs onto the chipset to keep it from getting hot so that the fan wouldn't speed up. This is a fault in the motherboards design, many other X79 motherboards do not need a whiny fan to keep the chipset cool.

So I would go for the ROG.

Thx for reply !

yeah, asrock are a bit old :-/ i think im gona follow you and get an asus board.

for the ram i want to start with less but for realy good one and upgrade later with 16gb until i reach 64gb :)

yeah im in love with this case and i cannot take another one, my computer have to be BIG xD.

I was looking for the Cosmos 2 but he are waaaaayyy too expensive and got no side glass ! wtf i want to see where my money go without removing a pannel !

for the gpu i want to to start with 1 but i want a realy good one and upgrade next year with another one and finish with 3.

Thx for reply !!

But if i understand, its the same issue with the ROG who are a fan chipset too ?

well a failing Asus X79 deluxe i think that was bad luck. i did not read bad reviews about the new Deluxe board. and it does not have that annoying little fan on it.

That is a shame. The Asus deluxe did not have a chipset fan but I also ended up watercooling the chipset and VRMs because I suspected the machine was crashing as it was getting too hot. I think it was actually the 7970's in the end not the chipset.
