Hi,

do you think it's possible for this setup to not work at all because the mainboard shipped with an old bios version?

If so, what would you say are the solutions (except for loaning a Sandy-Bridge-E)?

Or am i just paranoid?

There is always the possibility that the board will ship with an older revision of its BIOS, its very unlikely nowadays since Ivy bridge-E has been out for around a year, but Asrock has the benefit of having the BIOS in socketed DIP-8 IC so if your BIOS is old you can just contact Asrock and the will ship out a new BIOS IC so you don't have to return or RMA the board.
