Hello everyone,
I’d like to get a sanity check regarding ECC on AM5. I recently built a server with an AsRock x670e PG Lightning and a 7900x. I also purchased some DDR5 ECC Unbuffered Udimms (KSM48E40BD8KM-32HM). Here are my findings so far.
-
With BIOS rev 1.11 (via flashback) the system POSTS and recognizes the 2 dimms of memory.
-
In BIOS rev 1.11 when changing the ECC toggle from AUTO to Enabled, the system fails to load the UEFI after a reboot.
-
Upgrading to rev 1.14 AS06 [Beta] allows for the ECC toggle to be set to Enabled, and reboots successfully after a save.
-
I loaded Ubuntu on a USB and tested the ECC using dmidecode and it returned an Error Correction Type: Multi-bit ECC. However, memtest86 says ECC polling is disabled.
Am I missing something here? How can I verify ECC is indeed working on the PG lighting MOBO? How do I make sure it isn’t just on-die ecc?
Any help would be awesome. This is my first time posting so if some extra details are needed lmk.
