Asrock WRX80 Creator won't post, 5975x

Problem: Asrock WRX80 Creator won’t post, error code stalls at 42, and occasianaly will stall at A2/A0, even after removing all devices except graphics card, 1 stick of ram and NVME SSD.

Tested alternate graphics cards, all 8 ram modules in C1 (single stick boot), 2 ram modules in C1, D1; 4 ram modules in A1, B1, G1, H1; tested other working ram modules from my last 3960x build, nothing worked.

Tested all components in my previous workstation, ram modules, graphics cards, NVME SSD’s etc, all fully functional.

Code keeps reverting back to 42. Very annoyed. Was trying to wait for the MSI WS WRX80 to come out, but I’ve been staring at this 5975wx for a week, so at least wanted to see what a build would look like. So far it’s a complete annoying disater. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. I have no idea why I can’t even get it to post. Manual is unhelpful for the codes

So far all i can think is it’s either the Motherboard or the CPU, thinking about ordering replacements for both.

Specs:
CPU: AMD 5975wx
Motherboard: Asus WRX80 Creator
RAM: Samsung M393A8G40AB2 64gb DDR4 3200 Registered ECC (x8) (Also tested Corsair CMW128GX4M4D3600C18 RAM)
Graphics card: EVGA Kingpin 3090, 24G-P5-3998-KR, (Also tested EVGA 3090)
SSD: Intel Optane DC P5800X 1.6TB
NVME SSD: Sabrant 8tb Rocket 4 Plus 2x
(tested 2TB Samsung 980 Pro, 950 Pro, and 4TB Firecuda)

From what I see in Asrock’s ErrorCode list,

01-54 are related to ram and/or cpu.
A0-A7 are related to SATA/IDE. Which could also be related to a case if the CPU is sitting wrong (or maybe there’s a faulty mobo).

You’re probably on to something look for bent pins, if none, reseat the CPU, threadripper sized CPUs are VERY picky about how it’s seated

Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses. Got it figured out after I reseated the processor for the 4th time. I never had this installation problem wtih the sTRX40 MSI Creator, or the TRX40 Gigabyte Designare.

I checked the socket pins and that was all find. No clue why it didn’t function until the 4th try, but up and running now.

Can confirm, 5000 series Threaripper Pro is a beast and so is 512gb of 8 channel memory! :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks for the help!
