Building a PC
Asrock W790-WS
Intel QYFR -D0 Stepping
Hynix DDR5 RDIMM
Not able to get it to post. It keeps looping.
I have a video of all of the different codes that come up but nothing obvious.
I’m using the newest BIOS. Do I need a custom bios to boot an Engineering Sample?
I appreciate any insight!
Edit. I can’t include any links.

AFAIK from ocassionally reading ServeTheHome forums, depending on vendor ES support usually needs early BIOS versions as non-retail Processor support gets removed later. Intel doesn’t like these ES floating around. So if you have a good option to downgrade (Not sure if AsRock BIOS Flashback can do that) you can try that first.
That would make sense. I’m flashing back to the first BIOS release and will report back!
I’ve tried just about every BIOS with no change.
Have you checked this thread to see if you find anything interesing? At least it seems than your board should work with ES.
This thread seems more like a “how to overclock” I’ll use it once I figure out the “how to get this thing to boot”
The memory I was using isn’t on the QVL… I ordered a stick on ebay and hopefully it’ll boot then!
Hey did this work? I’m thinking of doing the same thing (used W790s are now $550 on ebay and ES chips are super cheap).
