Would this allow for each NVME drive to be used as separate boot drives for VM’s assuming you don’t enable RAID? I just want to split a single X16 slot into 4 X4 NVME drives for VM boot drives. What does the IOMMU grouping look like with this card?
Not entirely sure why yet, but I feel like I want one…
Sometimes there are deals on the more basic type of m.2 drives below their SATA model. But from the video I take it that this solution might not work in a common Ryzen system? And/or perhaps it doesn’t work with SATA m.2 drives anyway.
There is an Addoncard like this one from ASUS and it is compatible with x299 and x399. If you really need that many PCIe lanes on intel, i would yake a look on the ASUS WS X299 Sage, it has 2 PLX chips onboard. If all 7 Slots are filled, they run on 16/8/8/8/8/8/8 that has so far none of the mainstream Threatripperboards.
I have this card on an Asrock x399 Fatal1ty Gaming Pro MB with a 1TB Raid 0 array. I have a problem getting an installed O.S. (Win 10 or Win 8.1) to successfully restart, shutdown, or sleep. I have received no solution by contacting Microsoft, Asrock, or AMD. I have Win 10 and 8.1 on a standalone Samsung 960 Pro and SS 850 Evo in RAid 0, and these work just fine, but want my O.S. on the Ultra Quad. I would really appreciate any advice on how to resolve this.
