AsRock Rack ROME Series Motherboard “Slimline NVMe Connector”

Good evening,

I will soon be the proud owner of an AsRock ROMED6U-2L2T, however I’m having trouble finding a cable that will adapt what AsRock is calling a “Slimline NVME Connector” to a pair of U.2 drives. From my understanding, this should be a simple PCIe x8 to x4x4 bifurcation scenario. I’ve included a photo of the connectors in question below:

Here’s a picture of something that may be the correct cable:

Does anyone know for sure if the “Slimline NVME Connector” is in fact SFF-8654. If not, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks and best regards,
Jason

it is mostly but it wont latch.

Hmm that won’t do. The board has a pair of standard mountable NVME (not long enough for Optane though  ) front and back but I was hoping to expand.

SAS expanders are nice enough to include the cables in the box. Motherboard manufacturers should too!
