Does the AsRock Z77 Extreme4 motherboard have quad channel memory? I don't know whether I should get 2X8 or 4X4 to get the best performance.

Get 2x8 then in the future get another 2x8. Presto. It has 4 RAM slots.

The board only has Dual channel, as quad channel is only on the 2011 socket atm.
I think he got confused and meant 4 slots or 2, not dual or quad channel. At a guess from his second sentence.
