When I turn on the power, all the fans start spinning, but no BIOS beeps or video output. When i press keyboard buttons nothing happens
Does this mean that the motherboard is functioning? Is there a way to test if the CPU is an issue that doesn’t involve me buying a new CPU? I have tried with and without the GPU (MSI Twin Frozr III GTX 660), with no difference
All suggestions are much appreciated - thank you

Obvious question, but do you have a motherboard speaker? I’ve got a Fatal1ty AB350, and mine did not include one or have an onboard display.
I had a hell of a time figuring out where to start without that. BIOS beep codes are way more useful when you can hear them.

Asrock support will send you out a replacement BIOS chip (by mail) if you request one. I’m not saying this is your issue, but if your problem is that the firmware on your board hasn’t been updated since it was manufactured, it’s possible it can’t detect the 3400G. The replacement chip will include the latest UEFI.
For me, this was the problem. The APUs generally lag a little behind the non-APU series, and support for the 3000 series isn’t a guarantee that it will work with 3000G without updated firmware.
Thanks for the quick reply, and yes, I keep a spare motherboard speaker lying around for just this reason. I will try Asrock support, sadly they have no phone number, but will send them a message.
EDIT: Bios sticker on board says P3.50, which is supposed to work with Ryzen 3000.
Would also contact Asrock to see what they have to say
You try all the video outputs?
