UPS yes. But it did not shutdown the nas or had failed surge protection. All I know is the power went off when I was away from home. I have everything but streaming sticks behind one of many ups’. It was a older motherboard like z170. 6700k. but from what i can tell the mobo lights up but does not power on. Same power supply powers the hdds in the other nas now and has passed test of a tester.

In the last three months I watched and completed 3 Body Problem, Battlestar Galactica (2003), Parks and Recreation, Monk (ntheenth time), Smallville. I started Kim’s Convenience. I highly recommend Kim’s Convenience. Really funny and light.

Been a few months. I am gonna try to update this daily.

What is new?

I built a second truenas build. Between my 3 hard drive based file servers, I have 344.62TB available. I also have a ssd nas having 14.38tb usable storage. I am happy with this. Will likely use the ssd nas as nextcloud for documents and stuff, but my media and main storage are my truenas builds and diskstation.

I am trying to divide storage evenly to not have one nas maxed out in terms of used space.

I felt my xeon from 2016 that is 22 core was running a bit too power hungry so I moved the vms it maintained to a 5950x.

I also moved truenas to vm status on two proxmox builds. So I can have better virtualization than what truenas uses and just use truenas as storage and not a app or vm server.

I also bought a 4080 super to replace my 6900xt. I bought a 5700x3d for my friend as well as gave him my old 6900xt. So he is rocking out with that. He had a failing 1080ti and a 5600x.

I am giving a friend of the family my old htpc (5950x, 4070super, 64gb of ram). Hopefully they will enjoy it.

I saw Deadpool and Wolverine in theater and thought it was brilliant.
I finished For all Mankind, Battlestar Galactica, Kim’s Convenience, Parks and Rec, The Last of Us. I am now watching Doom Patrol and Super Store with my roommate.

I have a bunch of media to continue to rip. Which is taking a large part of my free time. I really want to have my entire library at present ripped by end of 2024.

A final update. I found my days for the last year suffering from lack of energy. Narrowed it down to sleep apnea. Took 3 months to get a machine, but man can I safely say it is a game changer. I still drink coffee, but don’t feel like I need it to stay awake. I start with 1 cup of joe in the morning and then maybe have 1 or 2 more later on in the day. Prior to the bipap I was drinking 8+ cups a day.

Anyways have a good one!

Rip for nas man

Hey, just a heads up, but I’ve read in a few places around the internet that some CPAP machines produce carcinogenic particulates, and have been linked to lung cancer. I don’t know if any of the newer units exihbit this behavior, but it wouldn’t hurt to look up your make & model to make sure you’re not at risk.

Good luck on your recovery! Getting past chronic fatigue is a huge win.

Thanks for the concern. It looks like it affected Philips back in 2021. A recall happened. I luckily dont have a philips and it is 2024 now. So I should be good.

Here is my projector demonstration.

I have been trying to down size my lab and electronic collection. Sold a projector for 300 and the person who bought it relisted it immediately for 500. The going price is 500 on ebay for that model used, but I was hoping it would go to someone that wanted a good deal and would actually use it.
