Oh, Giga's a MGS Head?

Played the fifth game and enjoyed it. Makes me want to play the other older games in the future.

The games since MGS have some really memorable moments. They also have some really WTF did I just see moments that take you out of the game. Like it all the same!

It feels so weird knowing that Metal Gear is just going to get more and more obscure now that konami only does pachinko.

hopefully Konami will go bankrupt and kojima will buy it for exactly 1 half eaten burrito and make metal gear great again

whats more likely to happen is we will be telling our kids of the legend of solid snake when we are old men and complaining about how it was never finished

Ok. I'm also posting on TS to see where the larger MGS fanbase lies. Because i've just finally gotten around to playing V. And i have a lot to say about it... And now that i'm talking on the subject of the forums. I didn't realize how... err... barren things were? Idk. BOTH forums don't seem that active to me. I see the last response dates of LATEST threads and it goes back weeks. But i have no responses yet on TS. lol

Metal gear?!

If Konami needs cash fast, they are gonna release a HD remaster of MGS Twin Snake that is available for all platforms.

I liked the open world one where you ride a horse so I voted yet for this. I rented that game not too long ago for Xbox One or PS4.

Metal Gear Solid on Playstation was a masterpiece. MGSII was still good, mostly because of the stuff on the boat.

Not many people like Twin Snakes. They would have to remake the game from the ground up, not that I trust Konami to do that well. Best thing they could do is port the MGS collection to PC but then again, Silent Hill HD was a thing.

hated twin snakes, felt like it was a violation to the original masterpiece

Kuwabara. Kuwabara.

My favourite series of all time. I must have been 10 years old when I first played Metal Gear Solid and it changed me as a person. No other video games could stir that kind of emotion and get me replaying it every weekend. My sister and friends were playing Crash Bandicoot and Spyro and I had no interest (okay Crash is cool but y'know). I missed out on MGS2 when it released as I didn't have a PS2 but when MGS3 released I played that game from about 14 or 15 until present day. I only keep my 360 around for the Xbox collection (I did finally get to go back and play MGS2 and it only took me a year of finding spare time to finish it during my PhD). I even play MGS3 on my 3DS when I get a chance. That game is just perfect; everything about it. I again missed MGS4 because I didn't own a PS3 but an Xbox 360 and so far I've only played Ground Zeroes as I'm writing up now but as soon as I get a free couple of weeks I'm upgrading my PC and sitting down with MGSV and living out Kojima's finale.

The general gist behind WHY MGS is so memorable as both a cinematic experience as well as an incredible game (as in actual, game-like gameplay, not just gameplay to support the cinematic events which many games rely upon) is because many Japanese game designers at the time were interested in movies and getting into directing. Kojima is a huge movie buff and always wanted to direct, but I guess when you're young you have to struggle to find a place to explore your talents. He managed to settle into video games as a medium to explore his cinematography interests and it seemed to work out well. MGS has an incredible story and the cinematic cutscenes are pretty much second to none. The gameplay is what really puts it way above the rest, because most other games see it as secondary to a good story, or vice versa where the story is secondary to fun gameplay mechanics and to keep the character progressing. Not Kojima, he nailed both. It's so easy to get immersed into MGS and the gameplay doesn't do anything to take away from that. Even when you're distracting guards with porn mags and spinning Snake in the menu viewer to make him throw up. It's all just so well done, and I don't know of any other game that deserves the massive following it has. I hope the movie does it justice, as I know Kojima and the director have been in contact.

I get that reference!
