Are we losing the battle against censorship?

We are losing because we are cowed people. Modern Phycologyy in the hands of government is a wepean of mass destruction. We give up bit by bit like frogs in a pot on a stove.

Yes

Are we even fighting it?

Actually that's not what the law says. It is in place for repeated harassment to the victims. Previously the ISPs were not cracking down blocking IPs from the bullies online. Repeated harassment, to anyone will always lead to negative consequences. As we've seen with LBGT students who are still just figuring themselves out.

It is currently a bill, that will eventually be passed as an act if approved. My friend Lloyd Gallagher didn't help craft the bill, but with stuff like this, he is consulted for Law stuff in the tech world. Is it counter productive/damning or worse for society etc. Read the entire bill first before making broad statements.

The problem with forcing services like Google or Cloudfare to stop doing certain things for certain websites or censoring is that it puts all the power in the hands of corporations, again. Copyright holders shouldn't just be able to take down things just by asking/demanding.

I don't think the battle is lost but it's definitely a hiccup in progress.

Btw this sparked up couple days ago. In my mind it looks like the UK Gov. is back peddling on what David Cameron said about encryption. Instead going for basically the US approach of wanting a back door to everything, which is still fucking inappropriate. http://www.businessinsider.com/uk-government-not-going-to-ban-encryption-2015-7#ixzz3ftsa1Xjr

NZ Harmful Digital Communications Bill

Currently reading through the bill atm. Seems pretty reasonable actually. Basically more so mediation between parties before getting to the courts. I'll report back.

I'm going to create a separate topic replying as link? Well trying to any way
