Are two 980s enough?

They are 980 Classies that I plan to overclock. Monitor is a CRT supporting 2560x1920 at 60FPS, 2048x1536@75FPS, 1600x1200@100FPS, and 1280x960@120FPS

I would say so. But you have impossibly high standards.

Are you going to be running all these monitors simultaneously? 2560x1920 at 60FPS, Really you of all people have a scum of the earth shudders flat panel?

Those are garbage! I Mean C'Mon they don't even have VGA out how can you run a Master piece CRT on them. Just junk. You need to be able to run infinite resolution and 980s are just not up to scratch they struggle at 2160p, there is no way they can run on of you many 800000hz infinite resolution monitors, just give up clearly the only option is to get a 90's GPU from the time they made then for CRTs. I know there are multiple mistakes here deal with it.

Stop trolling. And my monitor is a CRT that supports those resolutions. Plus I have a cheap DVI-I->VGA adapter that work just fine.

You will be fine - I game at 4k on a single 980

I know it does I was just having a joke. Sucks having to read that all the time RIGHT!

But i was serious, Yes they should do. But are you planning to run them all at the same time? Four monitors might be a bit of a push but if you are only gaming on one then there will be no issues at all.

I only have one monitor that I game on plus one side monitor which is a crappy LCD.

Okay then yes go for it. Should be more then enough.

Will the cards handle 2560x1920@120FPS, 2048x1536@150FPS, 1600x1200@200FPS, and 1280x960@240FPS? After I made the original post in this thread, I discovered interlacing, which allows doubling the refresh rate.

Your question is way too broad. You're asking if two 980s in SLI can pull those frame rates at those resolutions, right? Well, that question is faulty because we need to know what kind of games. For example, if you are playing a very CPU bound game like Guild Wars 2 at max settings and high resolution, well, having two 980s isn't going to matter. If you don't have a strong enough CPU, you'll have a CPU bottleneck waaayyyy before two 980s start feeling the strain in that kind of situation.

Simply put, yes, two 980s in SLI is a very strong combination at different resolutions and number of monitors. But don't set FPS targets at specific resolutions. Every game will perform differently.

With the 980tis being revealed shortly you might be better of saving your pennies just for a bit longer.

A single 980 is probably overkill for that resolution and refresh rate in 99% of games.

I fried my potatoes in a 12 inch sauce pan, and they were delicious. You should be fine.

A single 980 is overkill for 2560x1920@120Hz?

For a lot of games it will be but for a good amount of triple A games it won't.

Sure! Just think about it. If you consider all computer games, at least 99% have gpu needs more similar to tetris, minesweeper, rogue, etc than Skyrim with all the mods. At any resolution, your gpu would just be rendering large, slowly moving squares, often in 8 bits and occasionally in 2.

I've seen so many of these types of questions that I'm starting to smell a troll

Why don't you just answer the question instead of posting insults?
