Got a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series i5545-2500sLV and it seemed to be running hot, pulled up HWMonitor and saw this. I have had it for a week, is 110C normal or should I return it? Googled it and this is all i found saying Max Temp should be 102C
Personally I don't like temps above 90C on anything.]
Frankly, the thermal paste is probably misapplied. This happens with laptops in my experience fairly commonly.
Okay, I am going to return it. Now to decide if I should try the same model again or drop some more money on something a little nicer.
That does look like a bad case of crappy thermal paste. Alternatively, the fan could have failed to spin up properly. Dell rocks when it comes to service, so just send it back and ask for a new one. The chances this happens twice are slim, but if it does keep your original return slip and open a ticket with Dell to work something out. Usually they'll be more than helpful. (At least that was my experience when I had to return a tablet twice due to the screen literally falling off when I used it.)
