Just a simple question. I'm looking to do an SLI upgrade for one of my friends and wanted to know if these three parts together are good for SLI, or if i could save some money for no "performance" loss. - Thanks!

These are the parts he wishes and thinks would be a good upgrade for his system, I was wondering if between the PSU and MOBO if there were any cheaper but just as effective (and reliable) parts! Thanks a ton once again! -Luke
Try avoiding SLI with two mid range cards instead of going with a single higher end one.
A 970 or 980 would be better if you're looking for performance as it doesn't suffer from the lack of memory bandwidth when games use more and more of it in the future.
Ya, avoid crossfire/sli at all costs, at that price you're going more into 980/Fury territory,
What resolution is he gaming at?
Honestly, SLI isn't what it's cracked up to be. Buying 2 cheap cards? Get a single better one instead, less problematic. The only time SLI becomes worthwhile is when you have the cash in hand to outright get 2 at least high-mid range cards. 970, 390, etc. And at that point you're spending hella money.

Ah okay, just another quick question. In his PC (like mine) he has a Gtx Stock 770 2GB, he was wondering since the 770 is a older card (and around the 960's) price if it would be better to SLI that or simply move up to a single 970.
the 390 is the way to go over the 970

I also learned the hard way, SLI/Crossfire with two weaker cards is a big mistake. tried using two R9 285's... wasn't pretty
GTX 970 or R9 390, depending. I prefer the 390 due to more future proofness. SLIing 770s is a death sentence to your gaming and editing software would bottleneck like mad if you ever used it. 2GBs of VRAM? Even the 970 will slack off before too long with its (effective) 3.5GBs.
One 770 bottlenecks itself with 2gb of vram, two would be a disaster.
