I've played a decent range of FPS games in my time, but whenever they have a medic class its always a case of syringe to the ass and they magically wake up. But does anyone know of an interactive healing system where the medical has to do stuff like drag them out of line of fire, stem blood loss, administer morphine, bandage wounds ect. Y'know, things that medics actually do. If anyone knows of anything like that please let me know!
I think America's Army 3 had something "closer" - you had to know what to apply and when, otherwise it wouldn't work. It wasn't anything like wrapping bandages around the guy's arm with a mouse, though; it was just clicking on a GUI that came up for the symptoms they had.
Sorry if I gave like a cooking mama impression, I'm not really looking for a game based around treating guys. More of a battlefield medic class. So like you look over the injured guy, some QTE's pop up for bandages and applying pressure and the like. Just something a little more interactive then a lot of the current medic schtuff.
It's not, that was just a training session (which AA is notorious for). After you train as a medic, you go out in the field and do basically the same (and you don't have to be a medic, that's just one role you can learn). I just included the video to give an example of what it looked like.
From what I know, such a game doesn't exist. It's 2015 and the funnest healer role specific character I've ever played still remains the Holy Paladin in WoW, which I quit years ago and it's completely unlike what you're actually asking for. Sigh...
It's a type of playstyle game devs seem to either not care about our they just suck at it. Oh, just remembered something. There is a game, yes, a, as in just one. Star Wars Republic Commando. In that game you have to keep your squad alive by means of cover fire, moving them, and reviving them before they die. It's not as good as what you want. But it is a very fun game.
Republic Commando's a great game no doubt. It's just a pain in the ass how devs overlook ideas like this that I believe would really increase the immersion and intensity of a game. I think it would be freakin' amazing if mid fire you could drag a guy to the side and stitch him up properly, instead of the the now overused magic syringe or help player up thing. Battlefield 1942 got pretty close in that if you got shot you wouldn't instantly die, for about 15 seconds you could choose to wait for a medic. But again the medic used the magic syringe. It's a shame cuz I really think people would like to play the role of medic realistically.
