Hey guys,
I'm scared of posting my ideas online, as I think someone might steal it.
I have an idea, and I want to base a business off of it, so I want to be the first doing it.
This might sound a bit selfish, but you have realize that this is how our society works; you have be the first, be the best and be the biggest to succed in this capitalism.
The thing is, I am very new to this domain (web development) I want to pierce into, and I want to get some help on this website with developping and deploying my ideas. Is it safe for me to deploy the extent of my ideas? Or might be taken by someone who has all the skills and willpower to deploy it by themselves?
To clarify, I have started to work on this project already, but I have come to some issues and stopping points limited by my abilities. (There is a site up, but there's none of my ideas deployed).
This might be a bit too deep of a question, or it might be in the wrong category, so please help me with that too. ^^
Any help is hearthwarmingly welcome,
Sam
101 of capitalism. Shut your fucking trap until you have secured the rights, or are ready to move into a dominant position from the get go. If you are an inventor, the rule is. Shut your trap until you have either protection or a guaranteed sale at the end of development. That is all. Your ideas are not even safe whispering them to someone next to you at a rave party with music blasting so loud it changes your heart beat. A single dishonest, selfish person is all it takes for it all to come crumbling down around you when they take your ball and run with it.
edit. Mind you, I wish it wasn't like that. But banks don't take "good intentions" or "wishes".
Thanks a lot for this feedback. I will be careful in not posting my ideas therefore exposing them to these threats. Still, I will wait to see if someone else has an opinion on this subject and will promtly close this post.
Do you even have to ask if you ideas are safe? It is a public forum. they are as safe as they would if you announce them on TV. What do you expect people to reply?
If you think it is that a revolutionary idea that everyone can steal from you and it might jeopardize your business (if one does this before you it is over or sth) and you care for keeping this to yourself for your own business, do not share it until you have protected it (whether with typical copyright or a public license). You should have colleagues that you will implement this idea with. Or interested parties in the field that you will cooperate with or potential clients. Talk to them.
Thanks a lot for this feedback on this topic guys. I have taken in your opinions and made my own, which resembles both turin231's and Growling_Behemoth's answers. Thanks again and I hope this thread will have helped enlighten some other people like me.
