Xorg been long deprecated. Xlibre is not much more than a circlejerk around unmaintained legacy software.
I guess the fix is to wait for better drivers?
Upstream open-source kernel bits and upstream Mesa will never be made to be compatible with Xorg/Xlibre. Ask DHH if he can maintain some compatibility patches, next to his dotfiles based distro.

What apps do you specifically use that require it? Floating windows work just fine on KDE Wayland last I checked.
