APU based rig around $900

I'm building my first APU based PC and I'd like to hear your opinions. :) http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2TDBD

Later on I'll add the "new" r7 250 for CF ^^ http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1226&pid=2142&psn=&lid=1&leg=0

Looks like a solid build but do you need the 2400hz RAM? Why not 1600?

The graphic cores will benefit from the faster ram speed, just look at this -> AMD A10-5800K Trinity: why it needs faster RAM

Ahh, I see. Makes sense. Well, I say well done to the OP!

Why are you getting an APU with a budget of $900?

You could find cheaper ram.  I have this and it works great http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313416 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313323 or maybe http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313448

I'd  get a cpu and gpu instead of using an Apu in this price range. The performance you could get out of a $900 system with a graphics card will dwarf this thing. Like 2x or more performance easily. But if for some crazy reason you want to, here's what I'd do:  http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2TGf7

This is really how you should go, its stronger than any Apu build by a mile: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2TGp5

Just being that nitpicky-ass out there, your build goes over $900 if you include the blu-ray drive you missed. I'm assuming the OP wants to use this as something similiar to a HTPC if there is a blu-ray drive in the original build.

It's like some of you guys missed the part with Sapphire r7 250 and crossfire. :) And yes I know that I could get better stuff for this price but as the title suggests It's going to be an APU based PC.

Crossfire with a Apu is shit, don't even try it...

Did you try it? I couldn't find any videos or benchmarks for the a10-7850k in crossfire.

It wouldbe better to just get a faster discrete card.

You get better perfomance with a cheap $80 hd7770 than APU-CF...

If you really want an apu build and you want to CF in the future, I would get the 7850k and the r7 265 when it comes out. If you have not heard of the r7 265 (because it is not out yet) here is an article/review: http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/AMD-Radeon-R7-265-2GB-Review-Pitcairn-takes-another-pass

It really isn't worth the money to crossfire an APU with a GPU. You could get a good GPU like a 270 if you a) down grade the H100i to a CM Hyper 212 EVO, b) get a FX 6300 c) change the motherboard to an Asus M5A97 r2.0, d) get regular 1600 MHz DDR3 memory, and e) get rid of the Blu Ray drive or get a regular DVD-RW drive. You would spend less money for more power than a Crossfire'd 7850k + 250.
