Apt vs apt-get, which is ''right?''

Is there a ‘‘right’’ one to use?

apt is a human tool. It’s intended to be used by people interacting with the package manager. Features and flags may be added and removed in the future to make the tool better for people.

apt-get is stable, and it’s output can be counted on to be the same going forward. It might look and feel a little gnarly, and that’s okay.

tl;dr - apt for people, apt-get for scripts.

why isnt zypper mentioned yet

If this is a serious question, it’s because Zypper isn’t used to manage Debian-based distros.
