Aorus Xtreme sTR4 3990 win 10 problem

I just purchased the Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme with the 3990x and windows 10 pro consistently BSODs randomly. Sometimes right at boot, other times at random times during use. No overclock at all. I have 256gb of Gskill 3200 installed. Seems like it only happens after I install the Chipset drivers.

Any suggestions on what is going on. I’ve already completely returned / replaced the CPU, motherboard and Ram. But same issues.

I did have similar issue. Although I did not investigate it further, however I found what works for me (Workstation replacement build):

  • drivers from the Gigabyte site did not work properly (installs OK, but then windows is unstable)
  • drivers from USB stick (although the same version) worked OK.
  • reinstalling drivers did not work

In general the only drivers you really need are for the NICs/BT, since windows have not driver for them at all.
Any additional software from Gigabyte for the motherboard (RGB, MB configuration/monitoring) has very long and well “documented” windows BSOD ongoing history.
