I know the minimum requirement is an i7, but its the old 2.8ghz i7 920(I think thatst he right number, I skipped that generation for the 2500k).
I'm just curious if my rig with a 2500k @ 4.5ghz can run it or if I should save up $270 and go to microcenter and get a 3770k to both make it run better and activate the pcie 3.0 slots on my mobo. If I don't need to get a new cpu though I wont.
Does anyone know how it runs at max settings(dof turned as low as it can though since I loath dof) on a 2500k and a decent gpu?
Thanks in advance.

Bethesda really screwed up when announcing the rquirements. The i7 requiremnt is to run at 1080p 60fps max settings but in games it will be done easily with an i5.
Well its kinda disappointing my cpu can't max the new games anymore, but its 3 years old next year when intel puts out extreme octo cores or in 2016 when amd comes out with its new supposedly big thing it'll be time to get a new one anyway... : / At least I can play it though.
EDIT: reading through reddit makes me wonder how much they messed up the system reqs... A guy with a 2500k(guessing its overclocked) and 780ti is maxing it at 1440p and 60fps with everything but shadows on max. I'm guessing my i5 should be able to max it at 1080p too then. I'm used to messed up system requirements but this one is crazy.
What? Your CPU will be able to max the game just fine. The system requirements are massively overstated. It will be way more dependent on your GPU. Your CPU is totally fine and not that much slower than today's more modern chips. maybe 10% slower. You'll be fine lol
Maybe at stock, but with the oc I have on it, it beats out a stock 4670k quite a bit. I was reading though reddit and saw how bad they are overstated, a guy with a 2500k was able to max it at 1440p for crying out loud. I guess considering that id tech 5 only uses 5 threads max(if the rendering is anything like doom 3 bfg's source code) a quad core should do fine.
Yeah don't worry you'll be totally okay. I have a PC with an Athlon II X4 630 and for shiggles I through my GTX 780 from my main rig into it. Ran most games incredibly well at 1080p. There are only a few games that really need a powerful CPU and those are usually monsters like Crysis 3 or poorly optimized games like Metro and ARMA.
Even in crysis 3 the i5 performs about the same as the 8350. Hyper threading and moduals just don't offer that much performance over real cores I guess. At this rate pice 2.0 is gonna force us with SB to upgrade before new cpus do.
Ehh idk about that. Even a PCIE 2.0 X8 lane is fine for most GPUs
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Intel/Ivy_Bridge_PCI-Express_Scaling/10.html good article on PCIe bandwidth for GPUs, 2.0 x8 is plenty
