Anyone here who are using the 4.0 kernel?
I am atm.
When I booted with it I felt that I had found my purpose in life.

what's so special about this kernel version?
the version number
Its 4.0. Skynet and terminator are just around the corner
Live updates.
Anyone try the kernel on Ubuntu 14.10?
I compiled it on OpenSUSE. Live patching is awesome.
not yet, it seems to freeze my system when wicd connects to wifi. Haven't had time to play with it yet, and see what's wrong.
I like a fresh kernel (4.0.1). I like the Low-Latency desktop option as well. Makes it crisp.
From what I've been told 4.0 and above supports live kernel patching, aka no reboots needed to update the kernel. This has been really needed for a long time in the datacenter.
I am, I've been using 4.0.1 on my Debian installation for a bit now. I came from 3.19, haven't noticed too much of a difference but at the minimum the stability has been great for desktop usage
Linux linux.site 4.0.1-1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Apr 29 15:04:53 UTC 2015 (e3a374a) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Yup, works like a charm...
Linux desktop 4.0.1-fuct #2 SMP PREEMPT Fri May 1 22:15:28 PDT 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Installed kernel 4.0.2 12 hres ago on xubuntu 15.04 everything is find for now.
Before install I remove nvidia drivers and whent back to nouveau
Only thing is it broke a package for virtualbox but was fixed with "-f install "command.
Now using nvidia-349.16 ....all is well
To do that, I would need to compile the kernel, which requires time that I don't have right now. I'll probably do it in the next week or so.
Debian doesn't upgrade their kernel very often.
