Anyone to share X299 ECC Experience?

I was scouring the webz for information on X299 ECC compatibility. I’m aware that some old BIOS revisions for certain boards (afaict just ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI) allowed boards to work with ECC RDIMMs but haven’t found much on people actually using it.

I’m curious if anyone on here has actually gotten this stuff to work–and if so what boards and to what extent ECC functioned. I’m considering picking up a backup X299 board in case my current one dies and would enjoy the possibility of ECC.

Here’s a quick list I’ve found so far:
ASUS Sage BIOS 0204 (Initial, no ECC functionality)
ASUS Sage BIOS 0402? (No ECC functionality)
Gigabyte Gaming 3, 7, and 9 at or before BIOS F7

AFAIK RDIMMS might run, and you thus get access to >32 GiB DIMMS, but ECC is inacticve

Didn’t a BIOS update, takeout R-DIMM usage support [for x299]? (sneaky Intel BS)

That’s the consensus I’ve seen for people who’ve tried it. Just a good way to get more RAM and non-XMP.

Yeah, only old BIOSs on certain boards will run with RDIMMs
