I need a graphics card, I have one im looking at: http://www.amazon.com/Zotac-GeForce-DisplayPort-PCI-Express-ZT-90101-10P/dp/B00NNXVPS2/ref=lp_284822_1_10/189-0971061-1323902?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1418934232&sr=1-10 and was wondering if there are any good deals right now on either AMD or Nvidia graphics cards that you nerds know about, or if this is a good one to choose.
well...there was a deal on a PNY gtx 770 4gig card for 284 dollars on amazon that just ended today, so you missed out on that. (I really really wanted to get it, but then I remembed my gtx 770 only has 2 gig of ram...)
Anything more than $200 for a 770 is terrible. Since you can get a Gigabyte 290 for $235 and there's the Asus DCUII model for $247.
I couldn't imagine getting a 770 for $200. I remember when I bought my 650 Ti BOOST edition for 185, and thats half the card a 770 is.
Plus, the OP did ask about either Nvidia or AMD and I knew someone would post AMD stuff, and only saw that PNY card because I was thinking about SLI in my system.
a 770 is terrible old tech .
If you are spending that mutch , either 9xx series from Nvidia or R9 29x from amd , otherwise you get old tech ( even the 290 / 290x is soon to get old ) .
Buy an 290x off someone who tried mining but stopped within a month. That's what I did at least...
+1 to this
What about this? http://www.microcenter.com/product/431572/Radeon_R9_290X_4GB_GBDDR5_PCIe_30x16_Video_Card 299 with rebate. Seems good to me.
That is kinda high and that card isn't very good.
Basically, you have two options.
You can get an R9 290 for $230-260 depending on the cooler. Do not get a 290X. It is only a few FPS faster for a lot more money.
Or
GTX 970. They can be had for $330-380 depending on the card.
