Anyone interested in working on a new software project

Hello sirs and sirettes,

I am running a kickstarter, it is going to fail because I don't have thousands to spend on advertising, however, I was contacted by a programmer who I am now working with to bring my dream to life.

The project itself is bigger than I imagined and I wanted to know if anyone who has programming, design or maths skills (for analytics purposes) and even if you are up for researching things and would like to get involved then still contact me.

We are thinking of selling the software which is going to be called Unity on a subscription basis but it may not take off or make any money so that should not be a motivation for joining in with us.

If however, you are a YouTuber or streamer or just want to make a big impact on social media then getting involved will get you access to the software for free forever so it will definitely be worth it.

Its actually really fun creating something and whilst the lead programmer and I do need help to do the things we want it is by no means stopping there. If you had an idea to do something in a better way we are totally open.

Age and experience do not matter to me either, if you have skills and want to get involved then please let me know.

This is a really cool project and I don't want to advertise things here so won't put any links unless requested.

Don't know if I can put my email address here so I will and hope it doesn't get removed. It is matt(at sign)myunity.co.uk.

Thanks for looking and it will be cool to have you involved.

Cheers
MinkiSan

Is this not to be confused with the Unity engine? And what exactly is your product?

You can't expect us to blindly take your word for it if you don't explain your goals towards your product and what your product is capable of, withholding such information just makes you suspicious.

Yeah what the hell is it?

A link to the kickstarter would also be nice along wit the above mentioned.

Sorry to all, didn't want to get my post removed for adding links or blatantly advertising my kickstarter.

The home page is www.myunity.co.uk the kick starter is https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/minkisan/unity-for-content-creators-and-streamers.

In short the software is a tool to help YouTubers and Streamers grow by automating everything they do after they upload a video or start a stream.

For example instead of uploading to only YouTube, why not upload to Hitbox, Dailymotion and Youku and more by filling out the information once and pressing upload once?

Instead of streaming to just Twitch, why not stream to YouTube, Twitch, Hitbox and Dailymotion at the same time?

Once you have done that you need to promote your video and grow your presence on social media so why not have Unity do it for you to more sites than you have the time to?

When you are writing your headline, descriptions and tags why not get input from Unity about what works better for you for this video.

Its going to be an epic tool, creating overlays, analysis, uploads, streaming will all be easier and it integrates so many different services into one it will really help people like me and many other content creators.

If you want to know about me I am a 42 year old man who was in business for 22 years. I broke my back and have been trying to carve a new career.

Without having read everything (I will do so later) - only keep the name if you do want to have a lawsuit...

Well I'll tell you that this sorta tool would be useful to someone who has a xeon E5 in theor desktop stream wise.

No the streaming is done server side. As will uploads. You will still stream to one source and upload to one source.

There is nothing new being done here, the only thing that innovates is the software is pulling everything together and using all resources available.

Instead of just instagram, twitter and facebook like epoxy you will be able to get data and interact with your fanbase from ALL social networks worldwide. Instead of just getting analytics from YouTube and Facebook we will integrate everything from Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Tumblr, Stumbleupon, Reddit, Metcafe, Twitch, Hitbox, Dailymotion, YouKu etc, etc.

I came here looking for people who would be excited to work on a project, so far its people who want to tell me negative things about my project. I can assure you, I have been in business for 22 years and I have done my research. I know from experience that its the problem solvers and those who say "how can I solve this problem" instead of "this problem can't be solved" that come out on top.

That's who I am looking for now, the people that would like to do the impossible, those people who never give up. I broke my back in 2005 and I was told I would not be able to walk as I degenerated, I am still walking.

interesting idea.

How much time EXACTLY does it save the user?
Have you done any measurements?

(Time spent setting up new product + making a single post) - (Time spent making single post on individual networks) = ???

If you want this to take off, I recommend really getting into the streaming community. Get onto forums for the popular streaming sites/open source products and get involved and meet people. You need one of them to promote you. Maybe OBS?

If its done server side this would be a reduced time for sure. For example my MAX upload speed is 1.5Mbps. If I could get a file uploaded to multiple sites with just uploading once. This would be good. Security would need to be tight if someone was able to hack your account they would have access to all your social media's linked.

Well I am a YouTuber and Streamer. Once I create a video I enter the information into YouTube, most of it isn't saved and I have to retype it each time. Then after I upload I would then need to do the same thing again.

There isn't an exact time but if you imagine it would be as simple as cutting and pasting from YouTube then you would be wrong.

For example, if you average 5 minutes to fill out the information for YouTube then switch to Dailymotion, Start the upload and then fill out that information, even with cutting and pasting it over it will take you another couple of minutes because of the different information required.

This is after keyword research, which most people won't do. I do this, and after I upload I post to Twitter, facebook and Instagram, that is where most of my views come from. I am a small channel, so if I could post to more places, link my social networks, the people that like your content and follow you on social networks are far more likely to watch your content, so that is win, win. Which means more subs and views. But not just views, the views from fans are longer and as YouTube grade your videos on watchtime first then your video will rank higher.

Then after you have spent another 5 or 10 minutes repeating the steps for dailymotion how many people are likely to repeat that again for say Metcafe and then Vimeo etc.

We haven't decided on pricing for services yet but we may do a simple multi upload for less and then a complete service for more because of the cost of bandwidth but have also been looking at companies offering unlimited uploads.

Multistreaming will also be excellent. I was using Restream and it was very good but I always thought, this could be better so that is what we are going to do.

Yes security is a big concern so we are looking at using Cloudflare currently unless someone tells us otherwise.

Also thank you for the input. I am switching to VouStudios as my YouTube network and have been speaking with them about integrating with their service in some way so that people without networks can sign up, nothing concrete yet but they will also be promoting us to their network, it's a good place for us to advertise because that is our target audience. I also have been speaking with some big YouTubers and Streamers about doing a piece on the software in return for free access for a time.

I don't care for the name personally but I if thats what you want to call it go for it. I would make a tag-line though. Unity, Stream cloner. Unity, The stream multiplier. Unity,The Stream-Engine. Something that I would tack onto the name when telling a friend that tells them what the hell it's doing. It's a cool idea and I would totally use it but I don't know what it is. Don't make people hunt for the answer. This is the internet and unless you have the biggest, flashiest fireworks display you're going to be ignored. I would personally get a better mic and re-shoot your video without the intro. Jump right into it. When I go looking on kickstarter I click things and unless they tell me what they are and interest me in less than 10 seconds I leave the page. Look at all the projects that have been funded and their videos. They jump right into the who is the guy on the screen and why should I listen to him. If you don't then you've lost me.

As for negativity, don't be salty bro. No one wants to see you fail and we're not trying to make you. People also don't understand what your project offers and thus understandably question it's value. What you need to do is answer those questions right away so that you gain credibility. If you just ask for blind faith and provide no details then you're going to get negative and irreverent comments. None of the comments I read were negative. Just confusion and concern about you getting sued.

As for helping I would be interested but I'm not really sure what I can do. Most of my knowledge is in java and I'm still a student and have little free time.

Thanks man, I didn't just mean here, people online have a tendency to put you down, I am pretty thin skinned at the moment.

Unfortunately the Kickstarter is a non-starter. The moment I launched it and was inundated with emails offering to promote it for plenty of money I realised that you need money to make a Kickstarter work. I am just a fat old man trying to start a new career, not a marketing expert and I certainly don't have the money to spend on advertising.

Once the software is complete I will go to the bank with my business plan and get what I need but I just hoped I didn't have to start a business with the bank as my partner. The server costs for the first few months should be enough but I really had hoped to avoid them.

You never know, maybe I can go back to Kickstarter looking for less money and give away some lifetime subscriptions in return for the cash we need. At that time I will make a better video.

The name isn't set but I like it. From my experience in selling advertising you don't have to explain what a product is in the name or strap line. Most people who use this software will end up using it because we will have to tell them what it does. There will be a persistent campaign when I have something to share.

I have some contacts in the press (in the UK) and I will be using the whole sad fat disabled friend card with them.

I think the key to easier sales though will be to my network, thousands of people who will really benefit from using the software.

Once we have the software to work with, i will also be using it to promote itself. Makes sense that it should be able to do that right?!!!

I should also add that nothing in the project is set. If you came along with a better idea on how do to something, a better solution for solving an issue or something else then I am truly open. Already the programmer has suggested a completely different look and we are going with it because it looks better than anything I came up with.

Just as a matter of interest, would you think £3.99 per month for this service was too much? That's about $5.70,

Here are my thoughts on this in no particular order.

This concept is great. Fucking brilliant. But I think you may be overly ambitious in your goals. You need tiered goals.

  1. $xxx mark we will integrate YouTube and twitch streaming with Facebook and Twitter sharing

  2. $xxx mark we will add support for daily motion, hitbox,

  3. $xxx mark we add blah blah features etc

OK from there next bit of advice, don't be so negative about yourself. It's off putting to others and doesn't inspire confidence and doesn't make people want to give you money.

You created the kick starter too soon. Successful kickstarters usually start by showing at least a working prototype, or at the very least a run down of design concepts, what's involved, and the kick starter is used as a means to finish development and push to masses, purchase production servers etc in your case.

As other have stated you video intro is way to long. You need to get peoples attention right away or you've already lost. Talking about your personal life and misreading parts of your speech should be at the end of the video not the beginning (if included at all). Try to cut the video down to sub 10 minutes

I would scrap the current kick-starter page. Work on some more screen concepts for the app, edit the video, layout your goals, etc. Then create a new kick-starter page later.

Marketing wise you need help. Especially if you don't have capital to put into it yourself. I would message literally every major streamer and YouTube you could find with your updated kick-starter page and say "hey I'm building this cool software that could help you, if you like it give us a shout out or support us!" Maybe even offer an incentive for a year of free service for the shoutout.

What kind of team do you have lined up for this (if any)? What is their level of commitment to the project? If you have a programmer and a designer willing to volunteer some of their time to work on the prototype that can greatly help your kick-starter in showing off an actual project instead of just an idea.

Hopefully you find some of this constructive and it helps you.
