Anyone good with Source SDK?

Just got a call up from a friend who is currently working on a horror game using the Source engine and SDK. We need a few coders and texture mapping.

Also, if anyone is good with sprites, please help also.

So far in the discussion we've been talking about using Left 4 Dead's engine to remake an old map we played on ZPS.


It implements team work, skill and a strong gut to get to the next checkpoint

This will be a L4D map that will have 4 chapters with 1 finale.


-5th survivor

You have the option of taking a detour to reach the survivor and extracting him/her

Once you extract the survivor you can access the bonus room (usually a store)

In the bonus room, you can restock on medkits, pills or ammo.

In order to access the room, you would need to find the store and have the 5th survivor open it (metal shutters, requires a motor to open it). This triggers a mini finale where you must protect the 5th survivor or else you will not have access to the room.

The 5th survivor cannot use pills (allergic to Asprin) and only receives 35/70 HP recovery from medkits

The 5th survivor can follow voice commands (Z,X,C) and will also shout out events such as Smoker snatches, Hunter pounces, etc

He or she will be armed with 1 pistol, but will not be of much help (still being discussed)


-Riding the Train

The map requires you to get to Central Station and the only way to get there is via Subway

You hop in the train and ride it at full speed

When you are close to Central Station, you realize the brakes are broken and the only way to get to Central Station is to jump onto a stationary train.

This triggers a Resident Evil 4 type cut scene where you need to mash the space bar to jump

If you miss the jump, you will crash into rubble, taking off 25% of your health

The train will cut the power in the entire tunnel

The back up power will turn on the light to central station, but only for 1 minute.

There are no other lights but the 1 at central station so you must get to the light.

Once the light is completely off, survivors will have to rely on teamwork to shine their flashlights in 1 direction to see.
