Anyone expirencing extreme popping/stuttering in GTA V?

I finally got to play GTA V. Although I have been experiencing lag, random, frame drops and stutter. My PC also crashed. I ran off a hill with a car and it exploded. Instantly the screen went black and my pc rebooted.
I was able to fix some of the popping by setting GTAs priority to High.

Pretty much all of my settings are on high.

My rig

ASUS Z87I PRO

Did you install the driver?

What driver?

NVIDA and AMD released GTA V optimized drivers. http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/83819/en-us

I just upgraded from an amd x4 860k 4.3 ghz to an i7 4790k. I have 8gigs of ram and a gtx 970. It used to play fine with the amd with the settings at a moderate level, now I have the settings turned up most the way. Sometimes the game runs beautiful at 60fps (using vsync) no matter where I am or whats going on and other times it just drops to 20-30 and is choppy as hell. Sometimes if i alt+tab out and bring the game back up it's fixed. I didn't reinstall windows with the hardware upgrade.

Reinstall the AMD version of the driver.

For Catalyst?

I believe there is a memory leak in the game. Whenever I launch on my 4770k with GTX 780, I get stuttering until i tab out and back in. Plus the cram thing in the settings are not 100% acurate. Some times of the day and areas in game require more vram and when that happens and your gpu cant provide, you get stutter.

Sometimes I'll be in a room or small area with nothing at all going on and the frames will seemingly just lock at around 30.

its not uncommon for the world around you to be loaded in the vram as well. Take apartments for example

its gee force, not much power to run it. (its rebrand of 680 don't expect wonders)
(still your dual core cpu is bottleneck)

I turned off msaa and it remains smooth as gravy now.

Yep. RunninG 350.12

Interesting. Most of the time I alt+tab out it just freezes up.

The 770 is stukk a giid card thiugh.

Did nothing for me.....

770 =< 7970
deal with it. (its just reheated potato 680)

i am. though i found that moving my gta to an ssd helped alot

I will try moving it to my SSD then.

What about loading times? Just loading story mode takes 2 minutes.
