Anyone every try HDD caching with a ramdisk?

I have 24 GB RAM in my system, and the most intensive workload on my rig is a game and a few chrome tabs. In the event that they fix the memory leak in PUBG, I wouldn’t mind using 6 or 8 GB for HDD caching. Ive got a boot ssd, but all my steam/origin stuff is on a 7200 rpm drive.Does anyone have any experience with that?

I use primocache to do this. It works well. Your operating system will cache stuff in memory anyway but what makes primocache useful is that it will prefill the RAM cache on boot with whatever was in there when it was shutdown, this makes it persistent. It also supports SSD caching.

That actually isn’t a bad idea, prefilling it I mean. I may look at that.

Prefilling is what makes it worthwhile, if the RAM cache isn’t persistent then it’s not doing anything that the OS wouldn’t be doing anyway
