Haven't been using my xbox for the past 3 or so months, as I switched over to PC gaming.
Any of you guys have some hack/mod ideas for this thing? I would prefer something that wont get me console banned as I might sell it for cheap later to some kid down the street.
Any software or hardware modifications have a risk of getting banned. However I found modding game saves to be great fun. Just open up the Xbox HDD and connect the HDD up to your computer, Install a Hex Editor and your go. Just remember to do some research on the games, A lot of them put save ID's into saves and if you make an online mod (Example Halo Multiplayer Map Mod) You can end up with a game ban or even a console ban. I did it for a good 6 months and didnt have any issues however. I was just careful.
the best one I've found is what I call: The Xbox PC. This mod basically means that you remove all of the innerds and make the case into a sleek PC case, download a suitable operating system (probably win7, win7.5, or even a linux distro dependant on the games that you play)
The mod would cost you a lot of money, but it's funny when people see oyu press the on button on a console and see windows come up.
I use x360Dock. Its a disk emulator, that sits between the xbox and its dvd drive. You load ISOs through the connected USB cable from your PC via software, and it tells the Xbox that it has the disk in it. and since you are not actually modding the hard drive OR dvd drive (it just connects to it) microsoft doesnt detect it. Ive had it for about three or four months with regular online play.
