Any way to upgrade computer?

Hey all.

I am using somewhat of a ragtag computer and I was wondering if I can do anything else with it.

Specs are:
CASE:  Corsair Carbide 400R Mid-Tower

PROCESSOR: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

CPU FAN:  Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

MOTHERBOARD:  IPIBL-LA(Berkeley) Asus

MEMORY: (4) PNY Optima 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM 667

GRAPHICS: EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti

HARD DRIVE: (2) Sandisk Extreme 60 GB - SDSSDX-060G (1 for Boot/ 1 for Games)

                       (2) 320 GB HDD SATA 3200 RPM (1 HDD for -Videos/Music/ETC -- 1HDD for Backup)

PSU:  ANTEC HCG-620M 620W

ETC: SuperMulti 16X DVD(+/-)R/RW 12X RAM (+/-)R DL LightScribe SATA drive

Any advice?

I also have 1- 24 in monitor and 2- 19 in monitors where if possible i might as well use all three since i have the space and i don't want to waste them.

Thanks!

That won't be a bad computer if you throw a new mobo and cpu in it, go find a used 2500 and motherboard for it and you should still be good for a while as long as you don't want to play crysis with the hires texture pack.

Oh yea missed the DDR2 memory, but memory is dirt cheap.

i'd say get a new computer..replace the motherboard the cpu and the memory you could reuse everything else...

I agree with these guys. Get a new motherboard, CPU, and RAM, and everything else should be fine. You could always get a better cpu cooler if you want to spend a little more money too.

Any suggestions for a Mobo and CPU and RAM combo?

Asus P8Z77V with ivy bridge i7?

With this investment hopefully this will be future proof for a while...

How much would you be willing to spend?

And what are you going to be using it for editing or gaming?

I plan on just switching to PC Gaming with this computer. Alot of media, i.e. bluray movies etc. I also plan on learning how to use photoshop and image editing eventually.

okay what is your budget, I'm only good at "making the best for the price" I can't really tell you whats good until I have a budget

uhmmm $500 at the moment.

spending more, i probably should just build a new rig. but assuming upgrading the mobo, cpu, ram with the current stuff i have, $500.

This is what I would suggest:

CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128549

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X 8GB @2133mhz 9-11-10-28 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231476

Total: $498.97

If you're going to OC past 4Ghz

4Ghz and under

To Vortex88 and gigabusterEXE, Thank you for your suggestions. I guess upgrading to an i7 is not really needed for my purposes.

I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on my GTX 560 ti fpb -

well if you already bought it, its decent, there are better choices out now with the 7000 series price drops like the 7870 which is around the same price

Ok guys, sorry i haven't responded back. But tis the season to shop. With Xmas and sales around the corner, I was wondering if there were any good sales and suggestions to bring out some good potential in my computer. I am open to upgrading the MB/CPU/Memory and I am still determined to set it up with a 3 monitor set up, which means either SLI with 2 -GTX 560 ti fpb or switch it out with one amd radeon 7970 which should support 3 monitors with eyefinity.

Any suggestions folks? Happy Thanksgiving and Black Friday!

If you want eyefinitu to run smoothly, you're going to need two 7970s.

So should I go then with 2 7970's? Or just stick with the Nvidia card and get another GTX 560 ti?

But still does anyone have any suggestions for the CPU/MB/RAM? I am down to purchase a i7 and just need to wait for a good combo deal. I dont plan to overclock either.

1 7970 will be just fine...... 2 is overkill, and an i7 as well, unless you do vidwork
