This is my build pretty much wondering if everything works well. Any suggestions on any parts that seem questionable! leave some feedback this is my first build! http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qRaE
Well...that's a very nice graphics card, but I'm not sure it can drive three monitors on its own. You're probably going to want a second one to put in crossfire to drive that many monitors (well...depending on what kind of graphical performance you want anyway). I would get rid of the Zalman cooler and replace it with a Cooler Master TPC 812. It's similarly priced and should perform better.
Looks good to me other than that.

that card has 6 gigs of vidram, which, from what i've heard is the bigest factor in large resolutions/eyefinity.
It is, but GPU power is also a factor. I'm just wondering if a 6GB 7970 would be able to run demanding games like BF3 on ultra across three monitors by itself with decent framerates. I'm not that sure it could, but I might be wrong. I'd like to see someone test it out though...I wonder if anyone has before...
Google would be your friend on this one. It might take some digging to figure out a conclusive answer to this question though.
I believe it could, it would just eat more ram.
Maybe...I'm not so sure though. Because I have two 3GB GTX 580s in SLI, so I did a little research into Nvidia Surround. People using similar rigs to mine for surround posted some videos and it looks like the framerate in BF3 dropped to around 45 fps with high to ultra settings. I get an average between 70 and 85 fps on a single 1920x1200 monitor with ultra settings right now. I mean maybe it's because they're 3GB cards, and a single monitor can take almost 2GB of VRAM by itself. I really don't know though.
That's partly why I've just decided to go with a 2560x1440 monitor instead.
heres my suggestion, grab a good beer and relax bud, we got ya.
lol, what?
save yourself $10 dollars and grab the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211597 XPG SX900. lil bit faster than the hyperx. i switched from hyperx to these bc of a review Logan did on it. you'll save a cpl bucks and be completely satisfied.
speaking to the member that created post lol
Yeah, Logan has said the SX900 is pretty nice. I'm pretty sure he's using one in his personal rig actually.
3 rigs all had 2 hyperx's in each case, swapped on the 1st rig, was impressed... sold the other hyperx's on ebay and bought 4 more sx900's for other 2 rigs. are they way faster, no... but enough to notice a nice lil bump.
to save on the the cpu cooler get the cooler master hyper evo 212 works wonders for my CPU its like 30$

hahahaha i love this website so much! Thanks so much guys. Also quick couple of questions So you think one GPU a 7970 with 6 gigs of vram wont be enough to play on three monitors even with a decent overclock? Another question is 7 fans on your case a bit over kill? Cause i hear from some friends that To many fans can kill air flow espeically if they are on the side... Last but not least is would any of you fine gentleman or lady would recomend me a headset that i can use for gaming/listening to music with a good mircophone for around the price range of 150 dollars if you could that would be amazing! Thanks so much guys for the advice and suggestions!
The 212 evo is a nice cooler, but the TPC 812 will wipe the floor with it, so it's worth the money as long as he can afford it.
You could probably run three monitors with a single 7970 with 6GB of VRAM, but you probably won't be able to do it at the highest settings.
7 fans isn't overkill. You can never have too many fans in my opinion, but you have to make sure they're set up correctly inside the case. Fans in the front, bottom and side panel of the case should all be used as intake, while rear and top fans should be used as exhaust.
As far as headsets go...well I don't know too much about headsets. I personally have a pair of Sennheiser HD 558's and they're amazing headphones. Someone on this site posted a mic that you can purchase separately and attach to your headphones. That way you would get better overall audio quality while still having a decent microphone.
Ahhh yeah my plan was to get some Sennhesiers hd 280s and a seperate microphone but my layout in my room is far to small to fit a mic stand with the existing three monitors. So its sorta a pain in the butt. But i will look into that mic you can attach to your headphones any idea who was the member who posted it?
Also with the GPU i was thinking about saving my money and waiting for the next gen GPUs to come out but idk when that is happening and i kinda need the computer soon. You have any idea when they are being released?
Another thing about the fans ive seen a bunch of cases that have fans at the bottom of the case now should those be used for intake or exhaust?
correct me if i'm wrong guys but wouldn't 2 7870s out perform a single 7970 for about the same price?, or are 2GB cards not wise in this 3 monitor setup?
yeah i think the vram would be greatly needed for running three monitors. Two 7870s would be great for single monitor tech but in Logans testing on crossfiring two 7870s went really bad for him not many games supported it and it was just a big headache. Plus two doesnt make it better cause i think just because you have two gpus doesnt make it twice as fast it just makes it run 1/4 times faster. But im a noob i just read the forums and research lol if a more experienced member would like to give his outlook that would be awsome.
stick with the single 7970 GHZ ed as the 6b is overkill unless youre running ultra res settings on all your games. It will handle your 3 monitors, just be wary of ATI drivers.
Your motherboard...any need for thunderbolt? There are much better boards to be had and that may have a lot of superfolus features on it.
Also for the price of that zalman cooler, get a Noctua NH-D14, its like $5 more and it blows everything out of the water, even preforms better than an h100.
