Any one know where to get a ASUS Sabertooth 990FX/GEN3 R2.0?

i saw asus has this mother board and it has pci 3.0 on it any one know where i can get one?

That board was a limited edition, they are not made anymore.

maybe if you are lucky you can find a second hand one on Ebay or amazon or what not.

But why botter about pci-e 3.0 ? it does not make sense

If you're getting it for PCI 3.0 then I would like to tell you that PCI 4.0 has been announced.

Modern GPUs won't even fully take advantage of a X8 PCIE 2.0 slot so it is kinda pointless.

I have the regular Sabertooth 990FX R 2.0 and it is a great board.

PCI-E 3.0 has other useful benefits besides the increased speed, but in terms of speed its a mixed bag.

Like?

Better signal integrity and a reduction in overhead from 20% (gen 2.0) to 1.54%

I have the first gen 990FX Sabertooth and it's still going strong. I had to do the BIOS update to support the 8350 but besides that, I'm having 0 issues with it. :)

dont get it. i have it.

you wont get any performance gain from using pcie 3.0

it uses the plx chip to achieve the higher bandwith, wich adds latency to the system (i didnt notice any latency, but i also noticed no performance increase/decrease from enabling/disabling it)

so, just get the normal r2.0 version.

Yup, if the the stars align just perfectly you may see small performance increases but nothing to really brag about. Might mean more in the future but odds are you will another system before it happens. Mostly novelity.

There is no performance increase, wenn it comes to gpu´s between pci-e 3.0 and 2.0.

Only if you use very fast pci-e raid controllers or what not.

Okay here is your stars alignment and the performance increases that are so small as to not matter. http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http://www.planet3dnow.de/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=413392&sl=de&tl=en&hl=de&ie=UTF-8

AMD FX AM3+ cpu's cant use pcie-3 anyway it was a pointless mobo and was discontinued the only cpu's from AMD that are pcie-3 ready are on the FM2+ platform.

(i am gessing ASUS made it ready for steamroller AM3+ cpu's that never made it to light and where droped)

Actually according to the article the greatest thing about it was it ability to run four dims of 2133 stable. Which i am assuming the regular saber can do the same. So ya a wash.
