So Verizon FIOS and I have a 50/50 connection. Currently only using about 40GB/day compared to the 540GB my napkin's math says I could be using. Verizon said they have bandwidth to spare in their exchange with Level 3 so: time to play.
What are some ways I could use 500 GB/day? I'm focusing on utilizing the 50mbps upload here. That's a possible 6.25MB/sec download speed for the interent. Network admin here, so I wouldn't need help with any implementation being too complex, any kind of setup being too technical or purchasing equipment.
I'm having trouble with this puzzle since I'm balancing privacy, local network security, wifi availability, max utilization, cost, legality, and long term reliability. None of those requirements are set in stone however, more like a wishlist.
Current ideas:
1) WiFi everywhere - Could purchase more enterprise grade WiFi Ruckus access points (have 1 unused so far), or just lots of consumer ones and place them around the property to span a 100-300 feet around my house in every direction.
2) Disable VPN connection from main internet router (it limits vpn's speed), then set up multiple simultaneous VPNs connections from multiple servers behind that router, and try to seed (totally legal) torrents up to 540GB/day.
3) make static underused media library available online via voodoo magic (such as DCC or HTTP)
4) Set up a torr relay and/or freenet node
5) Your idea
What are some more ways to use up upload bandwidth?
I'm thinking of setting up an esxi server with a dedicated VM for each "use" so I can potentially implement as many ideas as I have. 4 isn't enough! What say you!
