I recently got a new 240gb ssd and a USB to SATA adapter but apparently Apricot says that it isn't compatible (The brand is startech). So essentially I have no way of cloning my OS to my ssd(for free at least). Any Help you guys can offer?

Depending on the brand of ssd some come with their own migration software. Otherwise there are plenty of options. EaseUS Todo, Acronis and others. Or just backup and do a fresh install.
I am assuming this is a laptop (external hdd/ssd caddy), if the caddy is stuffed just pull out the optical drive and plug in the ssd to that for the transfer. If desktop then just plug it into any free sata port (preferably a sata3 port).
Trying EaseUS right now. I'll see how this goes. Also I need to buy a new external HDD because my old one literally died on me 5-6 hours ago.
1st update: Drive fully cloned through EaseUS but the drive doesn't show up in BIOS as windows boot manager. :/
