Hey guys. im looking to try out some indie games. im pretty new to the genre and im looking to try somthing different. any recomendations?
Hotline Miami: Intense neon-soaked bloodbath. It's a really fun top-down shooter with a great a soundtrack.
Spelunky: Cave crawling rouge-like platformer. Very difficult but very fair. Challenging and addictive.
Binding of Isaac: Top-down darkly themed rogue-like. Not a huge fan myself, but it's very beloved.
Rogue Legacy: Lol another rogue-like, although described as a rogue-lite. You earn perks, armour, upgrades etc so a bit more forgiving than the two I just mentioned.
Papers Please: Soviet customs officer simulator. Might not sound fun, but it really is.
Trine: Gorgeous looking platformer.
Braid: More a puzzle game than a platformer. Gorgeous art and great mechanics. You've probably heard of this one though.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons: Not sure if this counts as indie as I believe it was a studio made game, but it's not a AAA title either. Lovely graphics, innovative controls and a good story to boot. It's short, but it's damn good.
Gone Home: Ok, this is a touchy one. A lot of people hate this game because of it's short length and very unsubtle LGBT friendly story. I personally really enjoyed it, but I'd recommend waiting until it's on sale and doing some reading on it first. A lot of people refer to this one as a walking simulator lol.
There are a ton more I could add. Any genres you're particularly interested in?
Risk Of Rain: Very complicated and fun game
Ascendant: Beautifull game and also very fun
Luftrausers: also among my favourites
One finger death punch: amazing game to play a couple of quick rounds.
Overgrowth: not finished but it is very fun
SpeedRunners: very fun to play with friends.
FTL: nothing else to say about it.
Sir you are being Hunted: I kind of liked it but got bored a bit fast.
Race the Sun: endles fast game.
Thomas Was Alone: just get it already
Tiny and Big Grandpa's Leftovers: very fun also
Fistful Of Frags: Wild West Shooter with solid mechanics.
Surgeon Simulator
Probably Archery
Magicka ( it's not considered indie by some, but I think it is) One of the funniest games I've ever tried.
The showdown effect (Same as Magicka)
Antichamber: Interesting and mindbending walking simulator.
Super meat boy!
Fez
Guacamelee
Adventures of shuggy (recommend playing local coop)
I hope you like it. Have fun. :)
@Samiad, I really like adventure games. The Stanley parable and brothers a tale of two sons both look pretty fun. I also like action and shooter games. The top-down shooters don't really appeal to me though. a few other games that looked pretty good were awesomenauts and chivalry
Bastion
Mark of the Ninja
Ring Runners
Papers, Please
Starsector (in-development)
