Any gain from using 4x slot?

Hey guys/girls

I have a mobo that only has has one 16x pcie slot and was wondering if there would be any noticeable gain or if it would even be worth adding another GPU to it

You would both get less performance out of adding that second card and run a higher risk of encountering problems like stuttering, because not only is the 4x slot running at a low speed but it's also connected to a secondary chip on the motherboard. Instead of having a direct connection to the CPU like the x16 slot does. Save up for a single, faster card instead.

Im getting the asus directcu ii r9 280x next month which should be fine. Was purely out of interest incase i came in to a bit more cash so I could add another GPU mainly for bragging rights. Thanks for clearing that up though :)
