ok so, I built my computer few months back and got free norton trial for 2 moths on cd whit motherboard drivers and tomorrow is last day of this trial. I have no intention to buy norton as it cost like 70€ for year in finnland
so is there any free or really cheap ones I could trust to work and replace it whit?
(I have windows 7 so I send this in windows forum as I don't know where else to send this one)
uninstall that shit. the ONLY one worse is mcaffee.
install avast if you have to have one, but common sense is the best out there. personaly i dont use one (but then again, i check my run keys daily in regedit)
yes, I have heard of it slowing down the computer and stuff, but I don't know what info in my head can I trust as I dont remember where it all comes from, but now I have found tek syndicate and I can ask from here :D
thanks I feel bad as I just come here to ask stuff, but I cant give much back.
it helps, I mean, I did pay for Trend micro titanium AV, and it has saved my ass in other ways.... actually fixed a registry problem that ccleaner caused. i jsut got it cause i've used it for about 4 years now, and I like it. free AV is pretty good too,and i mean, if something don't look right, don't download it
The whole slowing down the pc depends on how much ram you;re running honestly.
Like ztraid said, avast could be a very good choice, I;m currently running and it doesnt affects my pc performance at all.
Technically an AV is not required unless you work at some office which involves a lot of USB movement and stuff like that, but then again, if you know where you;re getting your feets into then you should be safe without having the best av or nothing at all.
I just finished uninstalling norton, I dont think i need one to protect me from normal stuff but i have few times gone in the grey area looking for some relief for small and uncommon proplem and only "cure" has been small program i know nothing about, and few times like this antivirus program might of saved my ass by stopping and warning me about virus but I didint use to have forum to trust because of the god damn "trolls" everywhere, but I trust you guys in here. thanks once more
Get avast, AVG could be another choice but ehm lets say I had a bad experience with AVG 3 years ago and since then I'm a bit doubtful when it comes to their protection.
damn, you post 3 times faster than I do, cant keep up. :)
computer at issue has 8 gp ram, gigabusterEXE helped me to build it (I think he has some name here) and I wasted like 1100€ on this one so i think atm it should run anything. but this info is good to know, as i usually endup fixing computers of my family members. just few weeks back planted old laptop's (8800GTX i think)graphics card in owen and now it works :) but that laptob still misses antivirus program and as it is going to my mother's use i think it really needs it, damn thing has only 2gp ram or so and is kinda slow to open up evennow as it's empty
what would you recommend to the laptop? shes old mac user and might trust stuff she sould not.
well, to be honest, it was like 3 1/2 years ago, and I should have known better.... vid said i needed a flash player update, soo, even though it looked hinky as hell, of cource, i dled it, AV went into fits of raeg on it, and I realized that i had just pulled a stupid....
but hey, you don't make mistaked, you don't learn. i'm a helluva lot more careful now because of that
laptop has windows 7 freshly installed, problem whit linux is that i have my self only like one time seen the desktop and thats all i know of linux and my mother takes windows alredy critically as she thinks apple to be best think happened to man kind :/ i dont think i could "sell" her linux whit out ultimate complaint
