So I really need to add Archeage to the antimalware exclusion list because a thing with Archeage fucks it up and the antimalware wont let it run. This is a very common problem for people on windows 8 apparently. So that's simple, just do it form Windows Defender and all that... except i can't because when i try to open windows defender i just get error code 0x80073afc. Have done lots of serching, including asking here, but no luck. Which leave me to believe the only way to do this would be through the command line. I've found some thing for how to do it (i think) for windows 7, but it isn't working for me so i guess it's different for windows 8. Can anyone please help? It would be very, very much appreciated.
This is the thread I found and was trying to go off of, with no success
1) Any other AV software running? 2) have you tried removing defender and installing it again? 3) is it turned on in first place? 4) Restore windows services to default state
if you need help with any of those, look at google... should be easy enough.
The issue is with Hackshield. Antimalware service picks it up as malware. Archeage uses it to prevent bots and all that. There is no work around other then what I am requesting help with. I have been trying to fix this for the last two weeks. I have done ALL the googling...
From the first link "Unfortunately, Windows Defender is completely built into Windows, and you’re not going to actually uninstall it. What we can do, however, is disable it."
this turns windows defender "off" and does not "uninstall it". and antimalware service executable will still indeed be running, among other things. If you don't have any other advice for an actual solution (like what i was asking for in the beginning), thank you.
you didn't specify what you want to remove. get-module defender should show you variables installed - which shows something is wrong there... going next its case sensitive.
this is what you need to know
you can find plenty of other easier approaches on google... just googling it now i found 5-10 different ways.
I have had that problem before with archeage. That hackshield is a waste. I dont know if they put repair function in the client or not by now? Download and reinstall a fresh copy worked for me. Dont allow antivirus to quarantine it and wipe any of the file. Follow the prompts to allow it. What ever terms they use for your antivirus.
i had archeage too, but didn't have this problem (one problem i had was with its big encrypted pak files... had to add them to exception if i didn't want to wait like 30sec to pass though logo)
