Another ally lost: CD Projekt Red

Seriously? Wow, CDPR, we thought you were better than this. Fine, Witcher 3 will be the last game that I'll ever bought from CDPR.

You can't develop for PC only? Look at Star Citizen, look at your fan base. We could have crowd fund your games, you don't even have to use GameWorks.

Reading this, I now support Lizard Squad's actions. Console need to die hard!

More unrealistic sales expectations?

Anyone else think we're going to start seeing "Witcher 3 didn't sell enough, it only sold 6 million (or whatever)?"

bought the witcher 1 and witcher 2 liked both games to an extent never finished either. will i pick up witcher 3 possibly in a few years. do i like the shenanigans that is happening with nvida and game works not on your life. i will vote with my wallet by not buying at full price and also only buying once all the DLC ( i dont know if there will be any ) is included and the game is complete.

side note last DLC package i bought was for battlefield 3 and in my opinion i wasted my money. ( i miss the days when any extra content was just a patch and not even considered a item to be sold)

cough I knew CDPR were off the rails. I said as much long before witcher 3. All you had to look at was how they were changing what they were to just another generic faceless greedy games company.

Going to say it again. GOG Galaxy. DRM coming.

GOG Galaxy is already out and completely optional. It's just to keep your games auto updated and all in one place.

I don't see the issue to be honest. If they were going to spend so much time in developing to the extent they have, it seems illogical to limit the profits to the sales of PC.

They have responded to public criticism already and have put changes in motion to respond to it positively.

The developers still need to eat, and so do their families. At least they're trying their best to go against the grain of what is considered normal for game developers these days, despite if it is masking their intentions.

For now.

Just wanted to state this...

Its easier now to develop title as omni-platform because xbox and ps are very similar to your normal computer.

Closing down to PC shrinks their projected sales, and they won't get bonuses from sony and ms for making their game available for their consoles. This way they can invest much more money into the game, and make it overall better.

Same thing with contracts from nvidia... many people do not know this but nv brought itself in CDPR giving them GTX Titans for free for their pc's. NV had a lot to say in development of the game, its visible. For poor performance from gameworks you can blame nv, but nv made it so even their own hardware runs slower.

but faith is not lost, as even if nv wanted their older gpu's not to perform as well as their newer ones, they didn't rocked down and slowed to hell amd cards, in fact game is better optimized for amd cards than 700 and older series of cards...
Which is a quite laugh - seeing nv fan boys complaining that their 780 enthusiast card is on par with 7970/280x thats a competitor for 680 (which it was beating down, pre-titan era)

(7970/280x is about half the performance power and size in transistors of Titan/780)

Lets see how many issues there are with this post (imo of course).

One as much as i hate consoles you cannot deny the fact that they are a major market in gaming. CDPR is a traditionally run company. They rely on investors that would not provide the necessary capital unless the game was multi-platform. Star Citizen is crowd-funded, its a simulation game better suited for PCs and got all the funding they needed without having to answer to noone. As much as the Witcher has fans it could never have the same crowed-funding success as star citizen had. Not by a longshot. It might now with the exposure of Witcher 3 but no freaking way before.

Secondly why would you care about whether a game be published for consoles too? The Witcher 3 looks amazing on all systems (even with the whole downgrade controversy) and it is actually faster patched up in PCs. Why would I as a PC gamer have an issue for consoles owners to play the same game as I do when I still have a satisfactory product on my system.

Thirdly if anything Lizard squad benefited the console market as they exposed the vulnerabilities of their network forcing the two main players to implement better security.

Also this:

Finally not buying a good product that you would enjoy just because people on other platforms can also have it is childish at best.

Put the tinfoil hat away. The galaxy was a GOG community demand for ages. They just implemented what the community wanted. I am not saying it is not possible for sth like this happening in the future. CDPR are a company after all and their main goal is profit as everyone else but keep the conspiracy theories to yourself. GOG galaxy exist because the community wanted it

Opinion.

edit: my opinion that is.

No kidding.

Nope...A client application was part of the whilst of the community for a long time because managing updates on GOG was a nightmare without it. That the community wanted it is a fact not an opinion. Opinion is whether they are going to exploit it or not.

I mean my comment on the DRM. I know the community wanted Galaxy. They also wnat open source and fair local pricing.

sorry then...misunderstood.

No harm it was a bit vague.

And that's the fuckin' sum and substance of it. That's what this whole outrage is about. Immature manchildren that need to get a life can't fathom that they have to share graphical fidelity with console players. They actually convinced themselves that they're superior to console gamers and that for some reason they deserve more. Apparently, higher resolution, higher framerate, nvidia's hair stuff and mods aren't enough. The game looks too similar to consoles so there must be an outrage! Pathetic.

It's a fuckin' game. If you think that graphics are so ugly that the game isn't worth your time, that's fine. Don't buy it. End of story. But this talk of losing allies is mental.

Being mad over a console port seems silly to me. Maybe you want to feel special.

But what does piss me off is gameworks and the current performance issues we are seeing. It was lazy to use it and hurt gamers.

You guys are mad cause they brought it to the consoles?

Dude from a business standpoint, if you were in CD Projekt Red's shoes. you want to get the most money. what do you do?

Hit the Drum Roll...

Make it for all platforms!

if they were to close the game strictly to PC, they are limiting the potential sales they can make.

All you guys that seem to have amnesia, you forget that CD Projekt Red is a Game Developer. their objective is to make money. they don't really care about us. the only time they will care is if, they see us shit on their game. which for all intensive purpose has happened, cause of Nvidia and their turd of a "Gameworks" Technology.

Thanks for laying it out like it is-- I'm going insane reading this thread.
CD Projekt Red are a company-- they're not gonna cut on profit from the consoles just because.
It doesn't change the fact that the game is, arguably, the best game to come out so far this year.

Witcher 3 is such an extensive and ambitious game (much, much more than Witcher 1 and 2), it would be insane not to release it on the 2 other platforms.
