Android

Which Version of android is the stablest on a tablet I have a arnova G3 http://arnovatech.com/products/g3/arn_10d/index.html?country=se&lang=en

as you can see it run,s ICS but it seems clunky & it seems to lock up would downgrading it to jellybean make it more stable or is it just android !. Also if i can install jellybean can anyone tell me how to Downgrade it to jellybean.

Sorry if there are any spelling or grammer mistakes they kicked me out of school

i am sorry but jellybean is an upgrade from ics and i would personally check out xda with your model number there will be plenty of roms most likely for your phone i am not exactly sure were you can find one but look over xda and do more reaserch and the difference between android ics and jellybean will make it alot smoother and also plz feel free to pm for any other extra help with android

Downgrade from ICS (4.0) would be to Honeycomb (3.0), but that wasn't refined as a tablet OS, ICS is pretty good - I've got it running on my Transformer TF101.

IMO, on the phone Jellybean (4.2) is far smoother than ICS and Gingerbread (2.3) - I ran all three on my HTC Desire HD

yes but for his device i dont think they would have 4.2 i would be surprised if they actually had 4.1

Seems like you can upgrade to 4.1. XDA has no forum or threads related to this device, seems pretty unknown. Since this one apparently enables Google PlayStore and normal Android apps I'd get that custom ROM any day over having stock.

Google Nexus 7 is in the same price range as this and you'll get JB out of the box.

I'd say save up and get a branded popular tablet where you know you'll get the upgrade to the latest OS version.

It,s a Arnova G3 10D "so it's not running Jelly bean" but dig deeper and you will find it's made by Archos , it has playstore straight out of box and app,s libs also its running ICS 4 but seem,s a touch clunky. I mainly use it for films and books but just wonered if the clunky ness is becuase its android.

no android isnt always chunky its all with the device and how well android is built for it

It seems as though there is a Up-date but will wait as i dont want to spend 3 hours redownloading the app,s or doesn't it delete the apps. If i update it as i have never used a androided device not even a mobile "never mind a tablet".

Sorry about any spelling or grammer mistakes there maybe they kicked me out of school

From reading the specs, these things stand out for me:

Single core 1.2GHz processor

It looks like they've left Android untouched, which is good, normally when companies put their own UI, it slows things down or messes things up

No info about battery capacity

Screen is 1024x600, not HD

Ultimately, you get what you pay for, this is an entry level Tablet at about £135 (Amazon.co.uk) and it's unlikely it'll get too much OS upgrade support from Archos and it's not really comparable to - if you can sacrifice a bit of screen space and can cope with 16GB of memory, then you're better off getting the Google Nexus 7, which is only a little bit more at £159 IMO
