Android for computers

Alright, so I'm just wondering if I can build a cheap little computer and have the android OS on it.
Is that possible?

It is already done many times over. You can run linux (and android too) on those.

I never knew you can have android on a computer, that is awesome. Something for me to think about

The easiest solution is a PC-on-a-stick, like the ones with the Rockchip RK3066 dual core. They are very cheap, and just plug into a HDMI connector of a TV or monitor, and accept bluetooth keyboard and mouse, or wired devices via USB OTG. They are as cheap as 50 USD, and are slightly bigger than a USB thumbdrive. You can't build them yourself so small and so cheap lol.

Awesome, but I can't just build one out of parts I just have laying around? I was thinking I could use my old GT 520 and Athlon 220.
The main reason I would build one is just for fu and gaming. Could a Rockchip RK3066 play games at 60FPS?

Pc on a Stick is a funny and catchy name. lol

I think so, depending on the resolution and the quality of the game and the android distro that you're using. I'm pretty sure it has an integrated MALI400 with all 4 cores activated, and that it is made to provide up to 2160p resolutions. A lot will depend on the game itself. Some games for android are software restrained due to a license deal with nVidia, to make the Tegra chips look better for gaming, but that's an easy to disable software lock, and you can get exactly the same or even better performance with other chips after disabling that lock. There are a lot of optimalisations and tweaks on android, it's crazy how much performance you can get with some basic linux style tweaks. You can also easily overclock the platform if the chip gets enough cooling.

It's very possible. You can boot android from a usb drive. Follow the guide.

This acually sounds fun. Thanks for telling me this, man!
