Analogue signal to DAC/AMP combo

was wondering, for people who use DAC/AMP with their phones and plug and use as input the phones headphone port: What’s the point of sending an analogue signal to DAC?

There isn't any point. A DAC is a digital to analog converter, not analog to analog, so if anything they'd just be bypassing the DAC.

Depending on the quality headphone amplifier the DAC/amp may drive some headphones better.

Very high impedance professional headphones are hard to drive with the onboard amps in phones, mp3 players and most sound cards.

So while the DAC(digital analogue converter) goes unused, the amp is needed.
