An update killed my Arch Install

So I did my bi-weekly update of Arch today, and suddenly I couldn't access any of my programs; they all closed immediately after opening. I restarted my computer and got an error telling me that I needed to run a manual fsck check on /dev/sda1. I made a live usb, booted it up, and ran fsck /dev/sda1 -y. About a thousand errors later, it was finally finished. I rebooted my PC, and now I get a kernel panic saying that it's not syncing. I booted the live usb again and attempted to mount the partition, which works. Where do I go from here?

Wipe your drive, and then run a disk heath check and see if there are any bad sectors.

It sounds like your hard drive has issues and you basically just discovered them in a really unfortunate way.

I think I'll attempt a chroot and kernel reinstall tomorrow before doing anything that drastic. I don't really have anything important on the SSD so I'm not really afraid of losing data. It's just that I don't have money for a new one right now haha.

Why'd it have to die so young ;( ?

Well do a little digging and see if you have warranty on the drive.

Some manufuactuers have an upwards of a 5 year warranty.

But I voided my warranty on the laptop by opening it up and modifying the bios. They'd probably tell me to go through Acer, and Acer would tell me that they can't service it because my warranty is voided. Oh well, it's only 32 GB. Was planning on replacing it anyways.
