I know windows will complain with motherboard change, do I need the product key in hand or will I be able to just make the phone call or whatever I need without it?
Or can I use a program it pull the product key from the harddrive? Will do a fresh install if I can.
If it works in another rig, check the PCI-E slot in the one it doesn't work in, either there is dust in the slot, or it just went kaput. A spare mobo won't hurt.
I dunno anything about the Windows key thing. my rebuilds haven't hit any snags, you might need to call MS to get it sorted out, that's about it. I did that once for Vista (yes, Vista).
NOOOOOOO NOT THAT MOTHERBOARD. That motherboard is literally the worst of the worst. The only thing that is crappier then that board is it's little brother, the g43. Do not buy it. Under any circumstances don't buy that board.
The g43 is the worse of the two, and under the heatsink the g46 is the same board except its got a bigger power plug. The g43 has been reported running so hot even at stock due to a lack of cooling and the crappy quality of the vrm that it melts, literally melts, under stock power draw.
PC gets turned off after use, only use was for playing Rift. Canned air might have killed it. Just a weird situation that puts me at fault for breaking someones computer.
