AMD to support Open Silicon Initializing for Coreboot

Check it out AMD is finally supporting an initiative that will help Coreboot

It’s been a long time since people have had any hope that you would see coreboot on an AMD platform but it seems that the AMD gods have figured out that people want this. I think this could be a good thing because AGESA has had a slew of issues at times. The enterprise could get use out of audible stable firmware that they could develop features onto. That said it’s not coming to the desktop for now

Do you think we’ll see better support out of coreboot then with traditional methods?

I’m all for less creepy firmware, not that AMD has one. I mean I know they also have the equivalent of Intel IME but having coreboot makes the its take on IME be less creepy.

I dont know what it entails though, I bet there would be some sort of performance degradation vs a stock firmware. I am guessing there would be no PBO or XMP to speed things up a bit when the opportunity for it arises.
