AMD. The Past, Present, and Future of the red Team

The title says it all. Discussions about the state of AMD and how they are doing, in all of their divisions, CPU and GPU. What direction they are heading, and what might happen to them/what might become of them.

No more CPUs from them. It's just APUs from now on, so stock up.

I would actually think that there is perhaps a chance that AMD has a smaller lithography up their sleeves, and they are not releaseing it because 1. they do not have enough money to start the manufacturing process 2.Want to milk the FX line dry before they are no longer a viable option.

Not sure because they don't seem to innovate or  dramatically improve their architecture. The reason intel and nvidia always have something on the back burner because the money they put into research and development.

Bulldozer was 100% new all-AMD design that they jumped to and not a redesign/tweak of something that already exists. AMD innovates in the server performance then it trickles down to the desktop market.

They keep a lot of things close to their chest. They said that the FX CPUs are not end-of-the-line, they will be adding more FX chips in the future. But in their 2014 roadmap there is no indication of this. I understand that their GPUs are doing very well, and one of the reasons that they posted a profitable quarter in recent memory - their first profitable quarter for some years.
